Develop a prayer team is one of the best suggestions I learned at the writing conference I attended spring of 2025. I didn't act on that idea immediately. Instead, I filed it away for future consideration. Maybe later I would think about doing that.

Then one evening when I was reading another homeschooling author's book, I began to have real doubts. I fell into the trap of comparing myself and my story to others. I seriously considered quitting. Then I sought the Lord in a prayer of insecurity. He reassured me that He called me to write this book, so He will equip me as well.

Once I calmed down a bit, I was reminded of the prayer team idea. I don't usually make quick decisions. I mull things over for a while especially regarding how to go about implementing the idea before deciding to do it. Not so this time. I started texting everyone that I could think of who might be interested in supporting me with prayer. I didn't overthink it, I didn't consider time zones, I just reached out.

All but one of those I asked agreed to pray for me. I told them I would send them a monthly update and prayer request. This was almost a year ago. I have missed a few months, but none-the-less, twenty friends across five states are praying for me while I write this book. I can feel those prayers, and I thank God for each and everyone of these praying friends. May God richly bless them!

I leave you with a Sonora Desert landscape photo. The two cactuses in the foreground are Fishhook Barrel Cactus because their spines are curved at the ends like a fish hook.
