As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I will give some details on what I learned at my first writing conference. I attended this conference during the "research year" for my book Homeschooling Without Regrets. The first take-away: read current books in your subject matter. I had been a little hesitant to do this because I didn't want to be overly influenced by other authors' writing. But I understand that it is important to get familiar with what's out there, especially with non-fiction. I ordered half a dozen current homeschooling books and got busy reading.

I leave you with a photo of a the flowers of a Saguaro Cactus. They are blooming now in the Sonora Desert. I enjoy seeing some across the street from the window at my desk.
