Karen Andreola is the author of the classic homeschooling resource, "A Charlotte Mason Companion." I recently finished reading her latest book, a novel titled "Michael's Gentle Wife." I didn’t want it to come to an end! I had almost given up on fiction. How refreshing to read about marital love centered on faith in God.
MGW features the elements of a good novel: a beautiful setting, dynamic characters, and an interesting plot that includes suspense, romance, heartache, joy, conflict, reconciliation, surprises, challenges, and solutions. While Andreola weaves her story, she truly creates a “comfort read” as she calls it. She takes the reader back to a simpler time when life consisted of faith in God, family, education, and community without the modern distractions and stresses we deal with in the twenty-first century. The examples of home teaching give glimpses of how children can learn under their parents’ instruction even today.
I found MGW especially uplifting and relaxing to read after a busy and trying day. Andreola gives us an ideal to aspire to by inviting us into Michael and Carol’s world of unwavering commitment and enduring contentment. Highly recommended!
